Backpack Tibet

After nine days from Kashgar this is the sight you see when you enter Lhasa - and it makes it all worth while.

The city of Lhasa basically surrounds the Potala Palace, so it is not the remote site that you may think it is, but it still takes your breath away whenever you look at it.

This is way to early to be out of bed!
Shotun Festival, Lhasa

Jim and I up early for the Shotun Festival (Yoghurt Festival), Drepung Monstery. Lots of smoke, walking, chanting and begging. The thing on the hill behind us is huge.

Jim was up way earlier than me thanks to his Chinese dorm mates doing what Chinese tourists do best, being ever so considerate...

Another site you see is Prayer Flags and beautiful scenery. The flags are everywhere, well, so is the scenery.

Ganden Monastary, about 30 mins before coming across the Sky Burial.

And no, we didn't go on a tour to find one, this was one that we happened to walk into.

If I could just find a souvenir
