Xinjiang has to be one
of the best parts of China! Yes, Han Chinese culture is creeping in, but there
is still a diversity that makes it interesting. Peoples, cultures and landscapes.
Just out of Urumqi, there
are plenty of scenes just like this. A pretty touristy area, but still nice
to get away from the main population. The lady is cooking up our meal, and
the hills on the right and beyond is where the hiking is done.
At a desert oasis town
called Turfan, I decided to impress the locals with my dancing abilities.
The girl in yellow said
that I was incredibly atheletic, handsome and frightfully witty - well, that's
how I managed to translate Uyghur anyway...
Not sure what the Uyghur
translation was for Christian's style of dancing. The heat gets to you after
a while...
Christian, one half of
the Monique and Christian World Tour. These guys are travelling around the
world by bicycle - on their Honeymoon!!! Check out their website,
it's in German, but they are translating it to English later.
And Xinjiang is...

It's on the left with Urumqi as it's Capital, and it's lower border is about half-way between Urumqi and Lhasa (Tibet) - big place.
