Life in China
Everyday Sights

The gap between rich and poor is incredible here, more so, I believe, than in my own country, Australia.

This picture is not as bad as it looks, but is a common sight.

A street outside my campus in Nanjing
Never a dull moment
Tielu Beijie, outside the campus
The street outside my University. This is one of the things I love about being in this part of the world. It is so much alive and active. Everywhere you look there is selling, buying, general activity. Rarely a dull moment.

The entrepreneur spirit seems to be alive and kicking here. Give them a spare piece of land and they'll have a business up and running, working hard to earn your money.

This is only true for those people who work for themselves, if they work for someone else, then you'll be lucky if they have ever heard of the word 'service'.

This table has a curve!

Road Works:

Since these photos were taken, the street outside the West Gate of my campus has been demolished. These scenes do not exist anymore. They are now replaced with a nice wide street which is extending past our gate and through the housing on either side.

Not quite as exciting anymore - but we have many other streets.

...there is no moral to the story, it's just a bunch of stuff that happened...
